EASTON, Pa.- Lafayette was dealt its first conference loss this season in a 62-48 upset against Boston U. on Saturday afternoon in Kirby Sports Center.
Lafayette's top performance came through junior center
Justin Vander Baan, who tallied eight points, eight rebounds and two blocks. The team shot 31.5 percent from the floor while being held to 5-of-19 from beyond the arc overall.
In the first half, four Leopard scorers and a 3-pointer by freshman
Luke Rasmussen saw Lafayette ahead, 11-7, at the 12-minute mark.
Boston's Otto Landrum knocked down nine points in a 14-10 Terrier run to even the score, 21-21, at 6:44.
Landrum and Ben Roy each had four points in the following stretch, as the Terriers used an 11-4 run to close out the first half on top, 32-25.
Boston attacked the rim right out of the gate in the second half, out-scoring Lafayette 8-2 at 13:26, for a 40-27 advantage.

Luka Savicevic and Vander Baan closed the gap to seven with two free throws each, trailing 42-31 at the 11-minute mark.
A 3-pointer by
Kyle Jenkins at 7:18 rallied the Leopards, but the Terriers' defensive focus kept a Lafayette run at bay for the next three minutes.
Meanwhile, Boston continued to push forward with a shot from beyond the arc by Landrum, leading 54-38 by 4:14.
Lafayette fought hard to earn a last 10-5 spurt by 1:04 as
Eric Sondberg's 3-pointer saw the Maroon and White down 59-45. The hosts were unable to overcome the difference in the final outcome.
The Terriers shot 40.7 percent from the field and had 28 points in the paint and 40 off the bench. Landrum led the opponent with a career-high 26 points, shooting 9-of-14 from the field to go with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Lafayette narrowly out-rebounded Boston 36-35, including an 12-8 margin on the offensive glass in the upset.
The Leopards host American on Wednesday with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
