EASTON, Pa. -Â
Lineke Spaans' overtime goal helped Lafayette top No. 20 Temple, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Rappolt Field.
Stella Malinowski is credited with the regulation goal, a penalty stroke at 11:57. The visiting Owls followed up at 45:35 in the fourth period to send the contest into extra minutes.
Seniors
Alex Darrah and Spaans made the game-winning play at 65:52. Darrah tipped the ball into the opposing circle and allowed her classmate to take a 1-on-1 with the opposing goalkeeper, easily maneuvering around her for a goal through the legs.
The Maroon and White held the advantage in total shots (12-7) while Temple earned one more penalty corner (5-4).
Lafayette's junior goalkeeper
Raffi Fragomeni made four saves, including a crucial overtime stop, in the victory. Her Owl counterpart, Isabella Ospitale, made three.
The Leopards return to conference play on Friday, hosting Boston U. for homecoming weekend at 6 p.m.
