LEWISBURG, Pa. - Lafayette downed conference foe Bucknell 2-0 on Friday evening, handing the Bison their first Patriot League loss of the season.
Field hockey currently holds a 6-4 (2-1 PL) record.
Both programs were left scoreless through the first half, keeping play limited to the midfield with a handful of shots on either end.
Katie Gibb earned the Maroon and White's initial goal during a penalty corner at 42:34 in the third quarter. Gibb began the set piece with an insert, which was sent towards the cage by
Lena Thedrian and
Josephine van Wijk before being cleaned up on the goal line by the sophomore defender.
Senior forward
Alex Darrah, assisted by a cross-net pass from
Laila Pasic, netted the second security tally at 51:43.
Lafayette held the advantage in total shots (15-9), but Bucknell created more penalty corners (8-5).
Lafayette's junior goalkeeper
Raffi Fragomeni made two saves while her Bison counterpart, Sarah Althouse, made six.
The Leopards host Providence on Sunday at noon for the Athlete Ally and Umpire Appreciation game.
