STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Lafayette made it a two-win afternoon via a 3-0 shutout of host Tarleton State on Saturday afternoon at the Whataburger Invite.

Senior
Jacqueline Cal scattered five hits while striking out three and walking two in her first win of the season. Junior
Mary Grace O'Neill contributed her second three-hit game of the season and scored two of the Leopards' runs out of the lead-off spot.

Sophomore
Marisa Powell got the scoring started in the third inning. With O'Neill and
Kylee Sweet (single) aboard, Powell ripped a single up the middle to score O'Neill. The next batter,
Regan Dillon, continued her hot start, plating Powell with an infield single for the 2-0 lead.

In the top of the seventh, the Leopards tacked on an insurance run. O'Neill doubled and stole third before Sweet went back through the box for a single to score Sweet and run the final to 3-0.

Cal cruised through the order, allowing just four hits over the final five innings. She gave up a lead-off single in the seventh, but then enticed the Texans into three straight ground outs to end the game.

The Leopards,
who beat Buffalo 4-2 to open the day, close out the five-game slate with a 10 a.m. ET matchup on Sunday vs. Idaho State.
