ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Day three of the Patriot League swimming and diving championships on Friday at Navy's Lejeune Hall consisted of 13 events in total and saw the Leopards break three school records.
For the men, junior Peter Kawash broke the school record in the 100-yard backstroke with a final time of 48.78, finishing 10th. Classmate Andrew Campbell managed 12th in the 400-yard IM (3:57.84) and senior James Lapsley placed 23rd in the 100-yard backstroke (50.24).
The team of Kawash, juniors Timothy Jimenez and Antonio Arena and freshman Alexander Reihl broke the school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 1:22.10, securing eighth place.
The women's 200-yard freestyle relay team of freshmen Sarah Newman and Natalie Johnson, senior Kristen O'Connor and junior Maggie Ivie eclipsed the school record, swimming a 1:35.29 for 10th.
Sophomore Isabella Van Ess swam a 1:05.27 in the 100-yard breaststroke to finish 12th, while Ivie managed 13th in the 100-yard backstroke (57.29). Newman and sophomore Emma Luttrell each placed 23rd in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.97) and 400-yard IM (4:36.18), respectively.
For the women's 1-meter dive, junior Shaylee Daniels placed 13th with a final score of 231.85 and freshman Mia Guster scored 213.15 and placed 24th.
The Leopards take on the final day of the championships on Saturday morning, starting with prelims at 10 a.m.
