GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Lafayette softball team finished off its second five-game tournament in as many weekends, dropping a 9-1 final against Colgate on Sunday morning.

Colgate scored nine runs over the first three innings. Adrienne Nardone and Niamh Dougherty accounted for the Raiders' three runs in the opening inning. In the second fram, Jillian Herbst and Kara Fusco helped bring in three more runs off Leopard starter
Parker Rowden as Colgate led 7-2.

The Raiders added two more in the third inning before the Leopards got on the scoreboard in the fourth, scoring after a pair of Colgate errors to push the final to 9-1.

Morrigan Gardiner threw the final 2.2 inningsin the circle for Lafayette. She allowed two earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts in relief of Rowden, who had the first start of her collegiate career.

Lafayette next travels to Chapel Hill, N.C. to play in the University of North Carolina March Madness Tournament on March 1-3. Lafayette will play Campbell (9 a.m.) and Rider on Friday (7 p.m.).
