SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Lafayette baseball team dropped the final game of its three-game series at Wofford, 27-4, on Sunday at Russell C. King Field.
The Terriers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run double.
The Leopards struck back in the second, when junior
Easton Brenner walked to start the frame and was followed by junior
Michael Zarrillo, who doubled to center field. Freshman
Teddy Cashman tripled down the right field line, scoring Brenner and Zarrillo and tying the game at two.
In the bottom of the second, the Terriers took back the lead, scoring eight runs on a two-run double, an RBI-single, a two-run single, a two-run triple and a bases-loaded walk, to take a 10-2 lead. Wofford added another run in the fourth on a solo home run, to take an 11-2 lead.
The Leopards responded in the sixth, scoring on an RBI-single by Cashman that drove in sophomore

Matt Colella's fielder's choice that scored freshman
Luke Caucci, making the tally 11-4.
Wofford extended its lead in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs in the frame. The Terriers scored two more runs in the seventh and nine runs in the eighth.
Braden Hofmeyer collected the win for the Terriers, pitching 5.0 innings, giving up four hits, two runs and striking out four. Junior
Joe Skapinetz took the loss, allowing eight runs on six hits over 1.2 innings.
The Leopards travel to Campbell on Tuesday for a mid-week contest at 6 p.m.
