EASTON, Pa. - Former men's basketball student-athlete
Leo O'Boyle '23 signed with the Newcastle Falcons of the NBL1's East conference this week.
The Scranton, Pa. native led the Leopards in scoring with an 11.6 average as a co-captain, as he totaled 384 points in his senior season. He netted 23 points versus American in the Patriot League Championship semifinal round on March 5, 2023 to reach 1,000 career points and send Lafayette to the conference's title match. O'Boyle was the 48th Leopard to reach the prestigious milestone.
He spent the following graduate season in Happy Valley with Penn State, averaging two points per game in 33 appearances, including one start. His most notable outing was against Ohio State on Dec. 9, 2023, when he tallied 15 points on a 4-of-5 shooting performance from beyond the arc to aid an 83-80 comeback win over the Buckeyes.
The NBL1 is a semi-professional basketball league in Australia run by the National Basketball League (NBL). The league consists of five conferences with both men's and women's competition.
Based in Newcastle, New South Wales, the Falcons currently sit at No. 11 in the division with a 4-6 record.
