Leopard Men's Basketball to Host 2024 Multi-Team Event

Lafayette announces full field and schedule plans for Thanksgiving weekend

EASTON, Pa.– The Lafayette College men's basketball program will host a multi-team event (MTE) at Kirby Sports Center over the 2024 Thanksgiving weekend.

Niagara, Long Island and Binghamton will travel to College Hill as participants in the inaugural tournament. The four teams will play a round-robin formatted schedule with doubleheaders starting the evening of Friday, Nov. 29 through Sunday, Dec. 1.

Niagara finished the previous season at 16-16 (11-9 MAAC), the second-straight season at or above .500, ending in the quarterfinal round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament in Niagara Falls. Freshman guard Ahmad Henderson led the Purple Eagles by averaging 11.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

Based out of Brooklyn, N.Y., Long Island posted a 7-22 (6-10 NEC) overall record for the 2023-24 season. Guard Eric Acker commanded the team with 12.7 points per game and three conference Rookie of the Week honors.

Binghamton, the third team in the MTE to hail from New York, completed the previous season at an even 15-15 overall (7-9 AEC). Junior guard Tymu Chenery led the offensive squad with 14.9 points per game, assisted by All-America East Rookie Team selection Gavin Walsh, as both athletes will continue to fuel the Bearcats' scoring moving forward.

Lafayette concluded the 2023-24 season with an 11-21 (10-8 PL) overall record, finishing in second place in the Patriot League regular season and advancing to the Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal. Four Leopards earned All-Conference laurels following the season, the largest group since 2011-12. Devin Hines, Kyle Jenkins and Justin Vander Baan were named to the All-Patriot League Third Team while Mark Butler took home All-Rookie honors. Vander Baan was tabbed to the All-Defensive squad.

To highlight the year, the 70-44 win at Loyola Md. on Jan. 24 pushed the Maroon and White to a program record-tying 7-0 conference start for the first time since the 2003-04 season.

In 2024-25, the Leopards have inked five incoming freshmen to the 10-man roster.

Ticket information and sales will be released later this fall.
