WORCESTER, Mass. - The Lafayette field hockey team earned its first Patriot League victory of the season at Holy Cross, 3-0, on Friday afternoon.
Alex Darrah gave the Leopards the first lead at 28:09, assisted by
Lea Good. The senior forward crept past her defender and secured the tipped ball into the right side of the cage.
Due to a Holy Cross foul, Stella Malinowksi was able to secure a penalty stroke goal for the Leopards at 35:49 for a 2-0 advantage.
Darrah scored her second of the day with a sliding tip off of a pass into the circle from
Lineke Spaans to extend the lead, 3-0 at 42:06.
The Maroon and White held the advantage in total shots (16-9). Holy Cross earned one more penalty corner in total (6-5).
Lafayette's junior goalkeeper
Raffi Fragomeni made seven saves on nine shots to secure the shutout. Her Crusader counterpart, Mia McCloskey, made 11 saves on 15 shots faced.
