Hanover, N.H.– The Lafayette field hockey team overpowered Dartmouth 3-0 on Friday afternoon, moving to a three-game win streak to open the 2024 season.
Neither team found the net in the initial quarter on Chase Field.
Lena Thedrian scored her first goal of the season at 16:14 in the second period to put the Leopards up 1-0.
Lafayette's
Stella Malinowski added a second tally at 32:04 off of a rebound in front of the cage to pull away from the Big Green, 2-0, going into the final 15 minutes of play.
Malinowski intercepted a Dartmouth outlet in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, sending a pass to
Alex Darrah at the top of the circle. Darrah fired a rocket from long distance with 20 seconds on the clock to secure the 3-0 victory for the Maroon and White.
The Leopards held the advantage in total shots (18-7) while the Big Green earned more penalty corners (5-4).
Lafayette's junior goalkeeper
Raffi Fragomeni made one save in the win. Her Dartmouth counterpart, Isabel Andrews, made eight.
