BETHLEHEM, Pa. -Â Cold shooting beyond the arc left men's basketball an 86-47 Rivalry loss to Lehigh on Saturday evening in Stabler Arena.
The Leopards were held scoreless from 3-point range on 22 attempts and shot 31.5 percent from the floor.
Justin Vander Baan's 11 points led the Leopards in double figures alongside three rebounds and two blocks.
The Mountain Hawks used their home-court advantage to shoot out to a 26-6 lead through the first 10 minutes of play. Lehigh shot 11-of-15 and 4-of-6 from the floor and beyond the arc, respectively, in that time, commanded by Nasir Whitlock's 10 points.
Lafayette made the most of a 13-5 stretch to 4:28, trailing 31-19, with five players securing two points apiece. The hosts fired back with a 12-2 run comprised of five scorers for a 22-point advantage, 43-21, at halftime.
The Maroon and White netted 6-of-7 from the charity stripe to open the second half, unable to close the growing gap, 51-31 at the 15-minute mark.
Whitlock and Tyler Whitney-Sidney combined for 11 points by 5:59 as Lehigh's hot shooting continued, 70-42.
The Mountain Hawks netted 5-of-9 from the floor and all five attempts from the charity stripe in the remaining 16-5 spurt to conclude the evening.
Whitlock led four opponents in double figures with 21 points, three rebounds and three assists. Lehigh out-rebounded Lafayette 41-24 overall.
