The hosts came out of the gate hot, posting a 9-2 run on 4-of-5 shooting. At the 4:56 mark, sophomore forward
Tasha Chudy started an 8-4 Lafayette spurt with a contact layup, putting the Leopards within three points (13-10) of tying the game. Lily Fandre hit a triple down the stretch for the Mountain Hawks, granting them a 16-10 advantage after 10 minutes in Bethlehem.
Lehigh had a hot-shooting second period, outscoring the Maroon and White 28-8. Maddie Albrecht's 12 points on the evening all came in the second stanza and the hosts shot 71.4 percent from the floor, while draining six triples. At the half, Lehigh led 44-18.
Lafayette shot 54.5 percent (6-11) in the third quarter, but Lehigh managed to contain the Leopards by limiting turnovers and creating more offensive possessions. The Mountain Hawks took five more shots than Lafayette in the third stanza, aiding them in maintaining a 63-35 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Addie Micir and and her squad advanced to 7-1 in Patriot League play at the final buzzer. Turnovers and long-range shooting proved to be the standout statistical differences in Saturday afternoon's rivalry. The hosts committed nine fewer turnovers (19-10) than Lafayette, while burying seven more triples (11-4). The Mountain Hawks were also effective on the fast break, notching 20 points, and their bench players came up big, combining for 30.
The Maroon and White look to bounce back in a mid-week matchup at American on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
