EASTON, Pa. - Dean DeNobile earned Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week laurels following Lafayette's 62-24 victory over Bucknell. The award is the fifth of his career, previously collecting weekly honors in his sophomore and junior campaigns.
DeNobile completed 76.5% (26-of-34) of his passes, while throwing for 316 yards and a career-high five touchdowns. The Economics major has thrown for 300+ yards in back-to-back contests after collecting 314 yards through the air against Fordham. In the win over Bucknell, DeNobile became just the sixth quarterback in Lafayette's 144-year history to eclipse the 6,000 yard mark, while helping the Leopards produce their highest scoring output since 1944 (64-0 win over Lehigh).Â
DeNobile paces the Patriot League in completion percentage (68.7%) and passing yards (1,601). The senior's 11 passing touchdowns and 228.7 passing yards per game rank second. Nationally, the Upper Saddle River, N.J. native ranks ninth and 22nd for passing yards and touchdowns, respectively. He also ranked second in career completion percentage (66.5).
The Maroon and White travel to Corvallis, Ore. on Saturday to wrap up their non-conference slate against Oregon State. Scheduled for a 10:10 p.m. ET kickoff, the contest can be seen on The CW network.
