EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette football jumped into the Top 25 polls for the first time this season following a 59-42 win over Colgate in week 10. The Leopards' 2025 poll debut comes at No. 25 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll, while they continue to receive votes (69) in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll.
A testament to the consistency of the program under fourth-year head coach John Troxell, Lafayette has been ranked in each of the last three seasons. In 2024, the Leopards rose as high as 14 in the Coaches Poll and 18 in the Stats Perform Poll following week three. In 2023, Lafayette topped out at No. 16, finishing the season 19th in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll and 21st in the Stats Perform Poll, following a Patriot League title and NCAA Playoff appearance.
This season, Lafayette is 7-3 overall with two of its losses coming to FBS programs (Bowling Green and Oregon State) and the other to perennial Ivy League front runner Princeton. The Leopards are 5-0 in Patriot League play for the first time since 1994. Saturday's game against conference newcomer Richmond and the Nov. 22 meeting of college football's most-played rivalry with No. 4 Lehigh will determine the Patriot League title.
