EASTON, Pa. - Men's basketball finalized a 1-2 record in the second annual Lafayette Classic with an 88-74 loss to Monmouth on Sunday afternoon in Kirby Sports Center.
Caleb Williams commanded four Leopards in double figures with 16 points and two assists.
Mark Butler (13),
Christian Humphrey-Rembert (11) and
Shareef Jackson (11) rounded out the group.
Andrew Phillips grabbed a team-high six rebounds as the Leopards shot 43 percent from the floor overall.
In the first half, the Hawks hit on 8-of-9 from the floor and added four buckets beyond the arc to take a 24-9 lead at 13:37.
Monmouth continued ahead to a 17-point lead, 32-15, at the seven-minute mark using a layup and-one by Cornelius Robinson.

Williams and Humphrey-Rembert secured back-to-back 3-pointers to close the margin to 41-32 at the halftime buzzer.
Coming out of the break, the Leopards totaled 5-of-9 on the floor and three 3-pointers, trailing 55-45 at the 14-minute mark. Williams, Humphrey-Rembert and Phillips all had three points in the spurt.
The Hawks broke away once more with an 18-9 run over the next six minutes. Justin Ray (6) and Jason Rivera-Torres (5) led the opponent's burst to a 73-54 advantage (8:17).
Lafayette made the most of an even stretch thereafter but could not shorten the gap, despite Williams and Butler scoring seven points in 12 seconds together (80-69 at 1:58).
Butler had five points on a driving layup and three free throws before the 88-74 final score.
Ray led the Hawks' 59 percent outing on the floor with 21 points.
On Friday, the Leopards host Mercyhurst for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
