Leopards Fall to Boston U. in Patriot League Semifinal

Lafayette concludes its season with a 5-8-7 record

BOSTON, Mass. – Lafayette's women's soccer was bested by Boston University, 4-0, in a Patriot League Tournament Semifinal on Thursday at Nickerson Field. This was the Leopards' first Patriot League Semifinal appearance since 2016.

The Leopards had five shots in the first half, two by junior Heather Plowright and one each by senior Katrina Santelli, senior April McDonald and freshman Era Methoxha.

Neither team scored in the first 45 minutes, and the match went into the halftime break, 0-0.

In the second half, the Terriers took the lead in the 56th minute. Off of a pass by Olivia Avellar, Ava Maguire broke away from the Lafayette defense and sent a shot to the low left corner of the goal, making the score 1-0.

In the 68th minute, Boston University scored again. Margy Porta sent a shot to the low right corner of the goal, extending the Terrier advantage to 2-0. Three minutes later, in the 71st  minute, Maguire found the back of the net for the second time, this time off of a pass from Giulianna Gianino. Juilana Osterman added one more score for the Terriers in the 86th minute for the 4-0 final.

Lafayette recorded one shot in the second half, by sophomore Emma Harmon. The Leopards took six shots in the match and were led by Plowright, with two.

Junior Catherine Apker had five saves and played 78 minutes in goal. Senior Maddie Miniutti played 12 minutes and had two saves. Bridget Carr played the full 90 minutes in goal for BU and had three saves.

With today's match, the Leopards conclude their 2025 campaign, finishing the year with a 5-8-7 record.
