Eight Fourth-Quarter Goals Lead Lafayette Past Binghamton

Senior captain Riley Sullivan netted a career-high seven goals

EASTON, Pa. – Senior attacker Riley Sullivan scored seven goals in a 16-9 Lafayette victory over Binghamton on Monday evening at Fisher Stadium. The Roswell, Ga. native also tacked on three assists.

Andrew Girolamo got Binghamton on the board first, but the first quarter was back and forth by both teams. Sullivan knotted the game at three goals apiece with 3:07 to go and neither side could pull ahead after 15 minutes in Easton.

The Leopards owned a quiet second quarter, led by goals from senior captain Cade Kilbride and Sullivan. Lafayette outshot Binghamton 10-7 in the stanza, despite only putting two of their attempts away. At the half, the Maroon and White led 5-3.

Binghamton found life in the third quarter, hitting the back of the net four times to the Leopards' three. Liam Ferris and Girolamo concluded the day as the Bearcats' leading scorers, each posting a hat trick. Dan Garone tied the game 7-7 with 2:44 to go in the third, but a late goal from Sullivan granted Lafayette a narrow one-goal advantage with one period to go.

Two quick goals from the visitors saw them take a 9-8 lead with 10:14 remaining thanks to a strike from Girolamo. From that moment forward it was all Leopards in crunch time. Lafayette recorded eight unanswered goals in the final 10 minutes of the contest to make it a 2-0 start to the 2025 campaign.

Freshmen Nicholas Blalock (3) and Clifford Chapman (2) combined for five goals up front and freshman Brendan Burke and sophomore Jack Massotto both earned two caused turnovers. Junior goalkeeper Joe Doherty was called into action nine times and his counterpart Connor Winters made 16 saves.

Senior faceoff specialist Evan Prince went 19-26 from the x on the evening, while Flynn Wilson's six wins in 14 attempts was the standout for Binghamton.

The Maroon and White return home at noon on Saturday as they invite NJIT to Fisher Stadium.
