Leopards Finish Day Two of Camel Invitational

Catalina goes 2-for-3 with a double

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Lafayette softball concluded day two of the Camel Invitational with a 7-0 loss to Bryant on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Olivia Catalina went 2-for-3 with a double at the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Mary Grace O'Neill contributed a hit as well as Dani Rosner, securing her first hit as a Leopard.

Bryant got on the board first, scoring a single run in the bottom of the second. A home run from Bryce Clendenin initiated a five-run rally in the third for the Bulldogs, increasing the lead to 6-0. 

The hosts led 7-0 in the bottom of the fifth, adding another run on Clendenin's second RBI.

Soph. Parker Rowden started in the circle, allowing three runs on three hits with four strikeouts and three walks over 2.1 innings. Freshman Makayla Lecky stepped in for two-thirds of an inning, giving up three runs on a hit with five walks. Fellow rookie Sophia Alvarez-Backus threw the remaining three innings, allowing one run on two hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts. Chloe Jewitt pitched a shutout, limiting the Leopards to four hits and was backed by a strong defense. 

The Leopards finish up the Camel Invitational on Sunday against UMass-Lowell at 9:30 a.m.
