HAMILTON, N.Y. – Colgate used a four-run second inning to take the final game of the weekend series with Leopard softball, winning 6-2 on Sunday afternoon at Eaton Street Field.
Senior outfielder
Mary Grace O'Neill had a game-high three hits for the Leopards while
Caroline Hall added two hits of her own, including a double while driving in a run.
Colgate's first hit of the afternoon came with one out in the bottom of a second. Mia Cascio delivered a solo home run. Mackenzie Lewis (RBI-double) and Annalisa Raffaeli (two-run triple) helped stretch the margin to 4-0, prompting Leopard starter
Marisa Powell's exit from the game.
The Leopards had their best early scoring chance in the top of the third via two-out singles by O'Neill and
Dani Rosner. Colgate starter Maya Servidio ended the threat by striking out
Katie Harrington.
Colgate added an insurance run in the bottom of the third inning with the aid of an error. The Raiders led 5-0.
The Leopards put up their first two runs in the top of the fourth. Hall's one-out double allowed
Emma Ahlborn to score their first run of the game. Two batters later, Hall came home on
Maggie Klug's sac fly. Lafayette trailed 5-2.
Colgate took a run back in the home half of the fourth on a Quinn Livesay sac fly and held on for the 6-2 final.
Powell took the loss, allowing four runs on three hits over 1.2 innings.
Makayla Lecky pitched in relief for the Leopards, giving up one earned run on three hits spanning 4.1 innings. Servidio pitched the full seven and surrendered two runs on seven hits for the circle win.
Lafayette continues Patriot League play April 12-13, traveling to Bucknell for a three-game series.
