EASTON, Pa. – Carlin Joyal has joined the Lafayette men's lacrosse coaching staff and will assume assistant coach responsibilities under eighth-year head coach Patrick Myers. 

Joyal comes to College Hill after spending the last year as Harvard's men's lacrosse director of lacrosse operations. During his tenure with the Crimson, they reached the 10-win mark for the first time since 2014 (10-7), finishing with a 10-5 record. Harvard took down numerous nationally-ranked opponents over the course of the season and recorded a 4-2 Ivy League record, posting wins against Yale, Dartmouth, Penn and Brown.

In addition to handling the team's logistical responsibilities, the former USILA Preseason All-American also performed data analysis and assisted in maintaining the program's recruit database, season ticket holders, store purchases and camp attendees. Joyal was the key contact for parents and alumni, as well as numerous different Harvard offices across athletics and the university.

"We are fired up to add Coach Joyal to the Lafayette family.  From the first time I met Carlin, his professionalism shined and his hunger and passion to be in the coaching profession is steadfast," Myers said. "We look forward to seeing Carlin grow as a Leopard and we are excited to get him to Easton full time as I know he is ready to help this program take another step forward." 

Prior to his stint in Cambridge, Mass., Joyal spent the 2024 season as the defensive coordinator at Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, Mo. With the Lions, the Longmeadow, Mass. native contributed to scouting and recruiting of prospective student-athletes and he worked with his fellow coaches to design and implement practice plans to enhance player/skill development. Joyal created the team's defensive systems and strategies, while leading detailed defensive film sessions to ensure the proper preparation necessary for sporting excellence.

Joyal also has experience coaching at the club level with Lou Fusz Lacrosse. From September 2023 to June of 2024, Joyal served as the head coach of the 2029 team for the fall and spring schedules.

A graduate from Merrimack College in Massachusetts, Joyal spent an extra year in North Andover as he pursued his master's degree in management with a concentration in organizational leadership. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2021, which was focused around marketing and sports management. The two-time Division II national champion (2018 & 2019) earned NEILA All-Academic Team laurels in 2021 and 2022 as a standout on the Warriors' men's lacrosse team.

Joyal was a three-time captain at Merrimack and a key contributor on the defensive side of the field. He played in 71 games as a Warrior, making 49 starts and he claimed NEILA All-New England First Team honors at long stick midfielder in 2019. Joyal concluded his career with 129 ground balls and 61 caused turnovers.
