LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Lafayette women's soccer had to wait an extra hour to open its 2025 campaign against Siena due to a lightning storm. The Leopards dropped the season opener to the Saints, 2-0, at Hickey Field on Thursday evening.Â
Siena opened the scoring in the 14
th minute as Lilly Farrell lofted a shot from 16 yards out to the lower right corner of the goal, giving the Saints a 1-0 lead. Catherine Rogers and Cate Flanagan were credited with assists on the play.
The Saints doubled their score 14 minutes later in the 28
th minute. Flanagan recorded her second assist of the game as she sent a ball into the box that was headed into the goal by Briana Neary, extending the Siena lead to 2-0, which held to be the halftime score.

Camryn Fitch and senior
April McDonald each took a shot for the Leopards as Lafayette totaled three shots in the first 45 minutes, while the Saints had four.
The best chance to score in the match for the Maroon and White came in the 61
st minute when a corner kick by sophomore
Emma Harmon found Santelli on the doorstep of the goal. The shot by the Lafayette senior was blocked by the Saints, keeping the score 2-0.
Neither team scored in the remaining 29 minutes.
Lafayette took seven shots, while Siena had eight. Santelli and McDonald led the Maroon and White with two shots each.
Junior
Catherine Apker played the full 90 minutes and recorded three saves. Her Siena counterpart, Cate Burns, also played the full 90 minutes and had one save.
The Leopards are next in action when they host Central Connecticut State for their home opener on Sunday at 4 p.m.
