COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Lafayette women's soccer dropped a 7-1 decision to Texas A&M on Sunday at Ellis Field.
The Aggies scored a flurry of goals in the first 15 minutes of the contest. Taylor Jernigan scored a goal in the 12
th minute, assisted by Trinity Buchanan and Leah Diaz. In the 14
th minute, a goal by Kaylee Noble made the score 2-0. Jernigan found Diaz in the 15
th minute, increasing the Aggies' lead to 3-0.
In the 23
rd minute, Texas A&M scored again, as Noble recorded her second goal of the match, with assists by Buchanan and Mia Scranton, bringing the score to 4-0.
Lafayette cut into the Aggie lead in the 34
th minute. After a foul at midfield, junior goalkeeper
Catherine Apker sent the ensuing free kick into the box where senior
Katrina Santelli headed the ball in the goal, recording her third score of the year and cutting the Texas A&M advantage to 4-1.
In the second half, the Aggies continued to add to their lead with a pair of goals by Holly Storer and the third goal of the match for Noble, making the final score 7-1.
Lafayette recorded four shots, of which two were on goal. Junior

Ava Murphy and Santelli all took a shot for the Maroon and White.
For Lafayette, Apker and senior
Maddie Miniutti both played 45 minutes in goal. Apker recorded two saves, while Miniutti had three. For the Aggies, Erica Defferding and Maysen Verondo each split time evenly in goal, with Verondo recording a save.
The Leopards are next in action when they return to Easton to take on Iona on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
