Field Hockey Bested by Temple

Leopards return to Rappolt Field on Sunday to face No. 5 Syracuse

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Lafayette field hockey team was bested by Temple 1-0 on Friday afternoon at the Howarth Field. The contest marked the seventh-straight meeting between the Owls and Leopards with the outcome decided by one goal.

The Owls got on the board at 2:10 in the first quarter using a goal by Peyton Rieger, assisted by Agustina Tucceri.

With both teams taking four shots on goal by halftime, Temple stayed ahead, 1-0, at the break.

The Leopards fought hard through the midfield in an attempt to equalize thereafter, even removing senior goalkeeper Raffi Fragomeni for an extra field player at the 55-minute mark.

Freshman Linda Nova took the final shot for Lafayette with two minutes to spare, unable to convert before the final buzzer.

The Maroon and White held the advantage in total shots, 7-6. The hosts held the Leopards without a penalty corner through the game, as Lafayette gave up just one.

Lafayette's Fragomeni made three saves in the loss. Her Owl counterpart, Alex Lepore, made four as Temple extended its home win streak to an NCAA Division I second-best 14, stretching over multiple seasons.

Next up, the Leopards host No. 5 Syracuse on Sunday at noon.
