Bohn Reaches 200 Wins in 2-1 Victory at Binghamton

Conor Cohen and Riley Martin both registered first career goals

VESTAL, N.Y. – Head coach Dennis Bohn eclipsed the 200 career wins milestone Tuesday evening in a 2-1 victory over Binghamton on a rainy night in New York. Junior Conor Cohen and sophomore Riley Martin both bagged their first career goals in the win.

The Leopards held the majority of possession in the opening minutes, but the hosts opened the scoring in the fourth minute. Binghamton had picked up the ball in its offensive third before it made its way out wide. Eventually, Will Mahoney made a move past a Leopard defender and fizzed the ball into the box. His cross found the foot of Anthony Randazzo who emphatically finished off the move with a one-time finish past goalkeeper Eric Axtman.

Lafayette got out on the front foot after conceding, thanks to some half chances by freshman Nicolas Papadopoulos and Martin. The remainder of the half was a duel in midfield, but the Maroon and White were knocking on the door late in the half and broke through in the 41st minute.

A Leopard had drawn a foul near Binghamton's goal and junior midfielder Samir Dishnica stood over the ball. The Economics major rifled a left-footed shot at Daniel Shannon's goal which he couldn't hold on to. Martin was first to react and he precisely nodded the ball past the oncoming goaltender. The match remained knotted at 1-1 heading into halftime.

The visitors were applying pressure to begin the second period and it paid off in the 53rd minute. The Leopards had just won a corner kick that Nikolas Hadjimitsis was preparing to serve into the box. His cross found the head of Cohen and his powerful effort found the back of the net, beating Shannon to his right.

Binghamton created solid opportunities after the restart, but Lafayette's back line maintained secure defensive shape. It appeared the hosts found their equalizer with two minutes to go when Calvin Moe beat Axtman with a towering header. The forward fouled a Leopard defender right before his effort on goal and the goal was chalked off.

At fulltime, the Maroon and White escaped with their third win of the season.

Bohn and his squad are back on the pitch at 1 p.m. on Saturday when they host Colgate on Alumni Day.
