EASTON, Pa. - Sophomore
Kiley Gallagher scored the game-winning goal in overtime to defeat Bucknell, 2-1, on Friday evening at Rappolt Field. It marked the third-straight victory for the Leopards.
The Bison were the first on the board, netting a penalty corner shot at 20:24 in the second quarter. Bucknell's Reese Czajkowski earned the tally, assisted by Gianna Puorro.
Lafayette did not find the tying score, a corner rebound by
Katie Gibb, until 53:27 (Q4).
Lena Thedrian made the assist using her typical drag flick shot to the left.
The Leopards held the Bison, which had two green cards at the start of overtime, to one shot in the extra minutes.
Lafayette took four attempts, the last of which was Thedrian fighting her way up the right sideline and into the circle. The junior defender caught her own initial rebound off the Bucknell goalkeeper and created one last opportunity.
Thedrian sent a flying shot across the circle, which was batted into the cage with authority by Gallagher.
The Maroon and White held the advantage in total shots (12-10) and penalty corners (4-3).
Lafayette's senior goalkeeper
Raffi Fragomeni made four saves in the victory. Her Bison counterpart, Sarah Althouse, also stopped four strikes.
The Leopards (6-3, 2-0 PL) host Bucknell on Sunday at noon for Senior Day.
