WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -
Harry Dessel (+13) led Lafayette on Tuesday morning during the final day of the Metropolis Intercollegiate, earning a top-25 finish in the Leopards' first event of the fall season. The Barrington, R.I. native netted a team-high seven birdies to cement himself in a tie for 24th.
Sophomores
Travis Robertson and
Reed Theiss both landed tied for 48th, after each shooting 229 at the par-70, 6,878-yard Metropolis Golf Club. Robertson (70, 79, 80) rested in 48th after ending Monday in 28th. Theiss rebounded to jump 13 spots in the 84-player field, using three birdies in his final round to shoot four-over-par. Freshman
Liam Brandt rose 10 spots to t-57, shooting a 233 in his first collegiate event. Junior
Hudson Pace (27-over-par), landed tied for 71st.
Lafayette finished 12th in the 15-team field, shooting 905.
Taking home the title as co-champions were North Dakota State and Richmond, with both teams carding 27-over-par. North Dakota State paced the event after 36 holes, while Richmond advanced two spots. The individual medalist honors belonged to North Dakota State's Rylin Petry, who shot 69, 70, 72 to beat out Columbia's Alejandro Formosa by a stroke.
Lafayette returns to the course on Sep. 20, when it travels to Annapolis, Md. for the Navy Invitational.
