WEST POINT, N.Y. - Lafayette golf used even-par performances from Viktor Kofod-Olsen and Reed Theiss to leap four spots at the Patriot League Championship hosted by Army. The Leopards' five-over-par 285 was the lowest team score for the round, and catapulted them to second in the eight-team field.Â
Kofod-Olsen, one of two freshmen competing for the Maroon and White, carded a second-round 70 in which he tallied six birdies. He managed to jump 22 spots from 30th into a tie for eighth. Liam Brandt (+7), the second rookie, shot a second-round 73 to place alongside Kofod-Olsen. Travis Robertson found himself in eighth as well, with his day-two 73 bringing his total to 147.
Theiss (78-70) landed in t-12, rising 24 spots at the par-70, 6,136- yard West Point Golf Course . Winston Kelenc-Blank's two-over-par 72 places him in a tie for 25th. Harry Dessel (74-80) sits in 29th.
The Leopards trail first-place Army by five strokes with one round left to play. Lehigh's Ryan Cronin maintains a three-stroke advantage over Army's Tyson Sparks for medalist laurels in the 48-player field.
The Maroon and White retake the course at 10 a.m. for the final day of the Patriot League Championship.
