Guster and Reihl Break Records in Victory vs. Mount St. Mary’s

Leopards secure 15 event wins, 14 individual and one relay

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette swimming and diving hosted Mount St. Mary's on Monday at Weinstein Natatorium, the first of three meets this week for the Leopards on College Hill. Both the men's and women's teams reeled in victories against the Mountaineers, the men 174-120 and the women 177-120.

Junior Mia Guster broke the Lafayette school record in the 1-meter dive with a score of 271.35. Guster's score in the 1-meter qualified her for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships. The junior snagged victories in both the 1- and 3-meter dives, scoring 249.90 in the 3-meter.

Junior Alexander Reihl eclipsed the Lafayette pool record in the 100-yard IM with a final time of 51.09. Reihl broke the record, while collecting first place.

On the diving boards, senior Gianna Bobrowski secured second in the 1-meter with a score of 220.43. Freshman Megan Hayes enjoyed a second-place finish in the 3-meter, scoring 218.78.

For the men, junior Trey Telleen scored 268.88 in the 1-meter for first place and 248.78 in the 3-meter for second. Senior Peter Curtis achieved the victory in the 3-meter, scoring 268.58, and earned second in the 1-meter (251.03).

Swimming for the women, junior Daisy Decker garnered the victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a final time of 1:58.91. Freshman Kristina Fleck enjoyed the win in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:08.07. Junior Natalie Johnson collected first in the 100 free and second in the 200 free (55.20, 1:59.51). Sophomore Meghan Robinson earned first in the 100 IM and third in the 200 IM (1:01.19, 2:09.03).

Senior Isabella Van Ess reeled in a pair of second-place finishes in the 50 breast and the 200 IM (32.51, 2:07.13). Freshman Josie Van Schaften placed second in the 50-yard butterfly and the 100 IM (27.41, 1:04.73) while classmate Mya Uku secured second in both the 50- and 100-yard backstrokes (28.23, 1:01.15). Junior Diedre McKenna Scudder snagged second in the 100 free with a time of 55.57.

Sophomore Callie Ng and freshman Luca Pirone claimed second in the 100 breast and 50 free with final times of 1:12.45 and 25.34, respectively. Freshman Francesca DiGiovanni placed second in the 500 free (5:15.02) and sophomore Ever Ferguson touched second in the 100 fly with a time of 1:00.81.

On the men's side, freshman Trevor Olson captured first in the 200 free, his first ever competition at Lafayette, with a final time of 1:42.49. Olson also earned the win in the 500 free, finishing in 4:50.63. Classmate Braden Moss enjoyed the victory in the 200 IM with a time of 1:56.65 and a second-place finish in the 100 fly (53.26). Sophomore Scott Lloyd and freshman Justin Tucker garnered victories in the 100 back (55.88) and 100 fly (53.22). Tucker collected second in the 200 free, finishing in 1:44.11.

Senior Tommy Weber reeled in a pair of second-place finishes in the 50 fly and 50 free (23.39, 21.81). Freshman Gregory Yukhvid placed second in the 50 breast (28.58) while juniors Zachary Dickman and Charlie Barker managed second in the 100 back (57.07) and 500 free (5:04.06), respectively. Freshman Max Mahler finished second in the 100 breast, finishing in 1:02.53 and sophomore Charles Derivaux claimed second in the 100 free (48.61).

The team of Reihl, Yukhvid, Weber and sophomore Eric Engel captured the victory in the 200-yard medley relay with a final time of 1:35.86.

"Today was a lot of fun. We are coming off our hardest work of the season so to see how well we were executing our races and dives today makes us even more excited for what's to come over the next month," said Lafayette head coach James Dailey. "It's great to get our first wins on both the women's side and the men's side today. We love to see the student-athletes' hard work starting to pay off for them." 

"This is a big week of competing for us, so to start off this strong is hopefully a sign of a great week ahead," continued Dailey. "We look forward to seeing everyone back at Weinstein Natatorium on Thursday for another day of racing and diving."

The Maroon and White will host Rider on Thursday at 5 p.m. for senior night as the Leopards recognize the class of 2026.
