EASTON, Pa. – Seniors
Jalen Edwards and
Jack Simonetta were key performers during the Maroon and White's 20-7 victory at Bucknell (10/17), en route to being named the Patriot League's Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week.
Edwards, a native of North Wales, Pa., came up with two crucial interceptions in the fourth quarter of Saturday's contest to secure the Leopards' first conference win of the season. He also tacked on three solo tackles and a pass breakup en route to the first weekly laurel of his career. Edwards' two interceptions lead the Leopards this season and he ranks eighth in tackles among his teammates (18).
Simonetta had a perfect day in Lewisburg for the Leopards, going 2-for-2 on field-goal attempts and hit both of his PATs in the victory. The Economics major handed the visitors their first lead of the day with a 33-yard make and tacked on a 28-yard attempt late in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Simonetta's 88.9 field-goal percentage paces the conference through six games.
The Leopards, who are 2-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play, stay on the road Saturday for a 1 p.m. matchup at Fordham. The matchup can be streamed live on ESPN+.
