EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette men's soccer team earned a hard fought 2-1 victory over Lehigh on Tuesday night at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium. The Leopards scored twice and held on for the win despite playing the final 28 minutes with nine players.
Lafayette got on the board early when forward Roy Biegon found the back of the net in the eighth minute. Beaux Lizewski whipped a ball into the box and Biegon headed home to give the Leopards a 1-0 lead. Harrison Wolfrom made three saves in the opening half to keep the visitors off the scoreboard, but they converted a penalty kick in the 45th minute to knot the match at one goal apiece heading into halftime.
The Leopards wasted little time before regaining the lead after the break. In the 50th minute, Thomas Clark played a through ball to Samir Dishnica, who tucked the ball into the net to restore Lafayette's lead (2-1).
The Maroon and White faced a difficult stretch after the goal, as two Leopards were sent off in the 54th and 62nd minutes. Down two players, the hosts had to withstand sustained pressure from Lehigh for the remainder of the contest.
Wolfrom came up with several important stops during the second half, including a huge penalty kick save in the 78th minute. With Lehigh looking to even the score, Wolfrom denied Thomas Robertson from the spot to preserve Lafayette's one-goal advantage. He continued to turn away chances down the stretch, finishing with 13 saves, including 10 in the second half.
Lehigh concluded the match with a 28-7 advantage in shots and a 14-4 edge in shots on goal.
With tonight's result, the Maroon and White have clinched a berth in the 2026 Patriot League Tournament as the No. 5 seed. Lafayette travels to Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday at 6 p.m. for a rematch of last season's Patriot League championship game against archrival No. 4 Lehigh.
