"We had a great first night with some great performances adding to the excitement of the meet. The student-athletes were ready, there were definitely some nerves but they really got over them quickly," said Lafayette head coach James Dailey. "The first night is always interesting. There are only two relays and diving. A few student-athletes from each team were competing as another 10-15 of their teammates watched and waited for their turns to compete tomorrow."
"Expectations are high and I'm sure they'll rise to the challenge over the next three days. Overall it was great first night," Dailey continued. "The next few days should bring some exciting results."
The Maroon and White compete in day two of the championships on Thursday at 10 a.m.
