BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League named
Caleb Williams as the Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, after averaging 22.0 points and 4.0 assists through the previous two games.
The Jacksonville, Fla. native had a career evening against Bucknell, propelling the Leopards to an 81-79 victory with 28 points and four assists. He went 7-for-11 from beyond the arc and posted a game-high 5-of-6 at the charity stripe to help Lafayette come back in the second half.
On Jan. 31 at American, he finished with 16 points, including four in the final minute of the game, and four assists. The game was tied 65-65 with only 23 seconds on the clock in regulation, forcing head coach
Mike McGarvey to call a timeout and plan one final play. Williams solely fought his way to the basket for a 67-65 finish as the buzzer sounded.
In his sophomore campaign, he has 22 starts and over 760 minutes spent on the court. The Economics major is averaging a team-high 16.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
The Leopards return to action against Navy on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Kirby Sports Center.
