EASTON, Pa. - Sophomore Michael DiNapoli propelled himself up to seventh with six birdies on Sunday at the ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational. DiNapoli's one-under-par 71 paced the Leopards and was the second-best score recorded by an individual golfer.
After 18 holes, Lafayette sits in ninth in the 15-team field at the par-72, 6,548-yard Northampton Country Club. The Maroon and White posted a 14-over-par 302 and remain seven strokes out of the top five.
Reed Theiss rested in a tie for 24th after carding a two-over-par 74. Harry Dessel (75) and Viktor Kofod-Olsen (76) landed in 31st and 38th, respectively. Winston Kelenc-Blank finished in 49th following his five-over-par 77. Travis Robertson (79) ended the first round in 68th.
Liam Brandt, Valdemar Kofod-Olsen, Harrison Browne, Chris Vahey and Hudson Pace joined DiNapoli as individual golfers for Lafayette. Brandt shot a three-over-par 75 to land alongside Dessel in 31st. Kofod-Olsen rests in 59th after shooting a 78. Browne's eight-over-par 80 places him in 74th. Vahey (81st) and Pace (94th) finished with an 81 and 85, respectively.
Towson wrapped up day one as the leading team, using a one-over-par 289 to lead Drexel and Lehigh by four strokes. Fordham's William Howard shot a four-under-par 68, pacing the 98-player field.Â
