HAMPDEN, Mass. – Following a canceled round due to weather, the Lafayette golf team completed the final round of the Connecticut Cup on Tuesday. The Leopards finished the tournament in 10th place, shooting 36-over-par overall.
Chris Vahey and Liam Brandt both finished nine-over-par after the two-day tournament. Brandt carded a 75 in the final round, while Vahey shot a 79. Senior Winston Kelenc-Blank finished the final round one-over-par for the Maroon and White, with birdies on the second, ninth, 13th and 18th holes to card a 73. Viktor Kofod-Olsen also had another steady day, with three birdies. Freshman Pranit Gupta also notched birdies on the fourth, 13th and 14th holes.
Rhode Island was crowned the winner of the 14-team tournament, finishing two-over-par. The Rams were eight strokes ahead of the second place finishers, Boston College. Tony Liu of Rhode Island was the individual champion, finishing seven-under-par for the tournament.
The Leopards travel to Apalachin, N.Y. on Sunday to partake in the two-day Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Binghamton.
