EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette split a softball doubleheader with St. Peter's on Wednesday night at Metzgar Fields, capturing the second game, 7-5, after dropping the opener, 10-8. The Leopards secured their 11th win of the season, the most for the program since 2017.

Katie Harrington and sophomore
Caroline Hall delivered the big hits for the Leopards in the nightcap. In the second, Harrington led off with a solo shot and added a second run when
Jocelyn O'Keeffe tripled before scoring on a wild pitch. In the fourth, O'Keeffe singled home a run and Hall contributed a two-run blast for a 5-0 lead.
St. Peter's and Lafayette traded a pair of runs in the top of the fifth and bottom of the sixth. Hall came through again for the Leopards, this time with an RBI-double.
Ava Butler joined in with an RBI-single for a 7-2 lead.
The Peacocks made it interesting in the seventh, pushing across three runs before
Sophia Alvarez-Backus ended the game with a groundout, earning a three-inning save in the process.
Parker Rowden grabbed the victory, throwing two innings of one-hit softball. Gabriella River took the complete-game loss, giving up four earned runs on nine hits.
In the first game of the day, things started out remarkably well for the Leopards in the first. They loaded the bases via a Hall (3-for-4) double, Dan Rosner single and a Butler walk. That set the stage for
Regan Dillon who ripped a grand slam over the wall in left for a 4-0 lead.
St. Peter's put two on the board in the fourth via Carlee Charles' (4-for-4) two-run homer and another run in the sixth on a sac fly to trim Lafayette's advantage to 4-3.
Lafayette padded its lead in the bottom of sixth.
Jessica Tejera made the most of her pinch-hit appearance, blasting a home run for her first career hit. Hall (double), Rosner (single) and Butler (single) all followed by driving in runs to extend Lafayette's lead to 8-3.
Things got away from the Leopards in the top of the seventh, as St. Peter's batted around the order in the inning and broke away for seven runs on five hits to claim the comeback win.
Makayla Lecky allowed seven earned runs on eight hits over two innings in the loss.
Marisa Powell started the game and pitched two scoreless innings for the Leopards. Ava White collected the circle win after tossing the final 1.2 innings and holding Lafayette to a pair of hits.
Lafayette returns to Patriot League play this weekend, traveling to Holy Cross for a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
