EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette football will host "Get In The Game," a bone marrow registration drive that will take place Thursday, April 30 outside of Farinon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Lafayette hosts the event with help from the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), an organization that helps connect donors with patients in need of life-saving cell therapy. Since its founding more than 30 years ago, NMDP has helped to perform 100,000 transplants.
The "Get In The Game" initiative uses the power and influence of college athletics to help expand and diversify the registry. With the help of student-athletes across the country, NMDP can help find matches for the 70 percent of patients who don't have a fully matched donor within their family.
Registration is simple and can be done upon arrival at the registration site by using a QR code. Once registered, potential donors will have to self-administer a painless swab of the inside of their cheek.
