EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette field hockey team shut out Rider, 3-0, on Friday evening at Rappolt Field.
Stella Malinowski opened scoring for the Leopards in the first period (6:48) with a successful penalty stroke.
Maddie Evans and
Katie Gibb connected to make it a 2-0 game at 17:25 before halftime.
For extra insurance,
Lena Thedrian tallied her sixth goal of the season in the third period. Her mark at 36:30 was assisted by
Olivia Krey and
Katie Gibb.
The Maroon and White held the advantage in total shots (36-1) and penalty corners (14-0).
Lafayette's junior goalkeeper
Addison Kahn was left untested in the shutout. Her Bronc counterpart, Jade Regnart, was forced to make 16 saves against 19 Leopard shots on goal. Addison McConnell recorded a defensive save for Rider at 26:24.
The Leopards travel to Drexel on Sunday at 3 p.m.
