OLD BETHPAGE, N.Y. - Junior Reed Theiss jumped up to 11th at the Doc Gimmler Invitational, hosted by St. John's, on Saturday with 18 holes left to play. Theiss (67-73) tallied five birdies at the 7,092-yard, par-70 Bethpage State Park Red Course to lead the Leopards on day one.

Lafayette is tied with Columbia for eighth place following 36 holes. The Maroon and White shot a 15-over-par 575 and remain seven strokes back of the top five.

Sophomore Chris Vahey ended the first day in 15th after turning in rounds of 71 and 70 to shoot a one-over-par 141. Winston Kelenc-Blank carded a six-over-par 146 to land in 45th. Liam Brandt shot 148, resting in 55th. Viktor Kofod-Olsen (+11) finished his afternoon in 73rd.

Kapil Ramachandran, making his first collegiate start for Lafayette, participated as the Leopards' lone individual. Ramachandran shot 75 in the first round and 76 in round two, sitting alongside Kofod-Olsen in t-73.

Yale paces the 14-team field, turning in a 13-under-par 547. The Bulldogs currently hold a 10-stroke lead over second-place St. John's. Yale's Theo Snyder (-7) has a three stroke lead over Towson's Ariihau Faana with one round left to play.

Lafayette retakes the course tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
