EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette field hockey shut out VCU, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon.
Katie Gibb secured the first goal of the game, batting in a deflected shot by
Stella Malinowski at 12:59 in the first quarter.
In the third period, Malinowski closed out the contest with a penalty stroke tally at 39:31.
Lafayette held the advantage in total shots (14-9) as penalty corners were tied at six apiece.
Lafayette's junior goalkeeper
Addison Kahn made one save facing one shot on goal. Her Ram counterpart, Emma Clements, made five saves against seven shots on goal.
In the days leading up to the game, Lafayette fundraised and spread awareness for pancreatic cancer. The team and donors raised over $750 for PanCAN.
The Leopards travel to Holy Cross to resume Patriot League action on Friday at 4 p.m.
