ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Lafayette wrapped up the Navy Invitational on Sunday, finishing 11th out of 15 teams at the par-71, 6,970-yard Naval Academy Golf Club. The Leopards shot a 37-over-par 889.
Junior Reed Theiss was the top finisher for the Maroon and White. Theiss rose to 12th after a final round 72, highlighted by an eagle on the par-four, 300-yard 12th hole. The Leesburg, Va. native shot a three-over-par 216 and was one stroke over of a top-10 finish.
Viktor Kofod-Olsen (221) ended his final round with a one-under-par 70 to leap up 21 spots into a tie for 31st. Chris Vahey (+15), who finished the first day of the event in 62nd, moved into t-55 with a third round two-over-par 73. Pranit Gupta wrapped up his first collegiate event as a Leopard in 59th after rounds of 77, 72 and 80. Kapil Ramachandran (235) moved into 71st with a final round six-over-par 77 after sitting in 78th. Michael DiNapoli, representing Lafayette as an individual, shot a 31-over-par 244 to remain in 81st.
George Washington (856) took team honors after beating Georgetown by three strokes. Georgetown's Carson Erick, William & Mary's Preston Burton and UConn's Kai Jun Huang all finished the event with a two-under-par 211 for a three-way tie for medalist laurels.
The Leopards retake the course from Sept. 27-29 at the Connecticut Cup, hosted by UConn.
