BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lafayette took on Lehigh on Sunday afternoon, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Mountain Hawks.
Auma Mbeche-Odhiambo (6), Noa Kamphuis (5) and Justine Puig (5) combined for 16 of the Leopards' 24 kills. Sophia Wilson and LK LaMonica collected 11 and 10 assists, respectively. Defensively, Alyssa Chu added eight digs, while Mbeche-Odhiambo and Kamphuis each tallied four block assists.
The Mountain Hawks won the first set, 25-16, using a seven-point run in the middle of the stanza. During the period, the hosts notched a blistering .500 hitting percentage, backed by 16 kills and three attack errors. Lafayette totaled eight kills and five attack errors.
Set two witnessed 10 tie scores and six lead changes. Lafayette jumped ahead, 11-9, thanks to a three-point spurt. The brief run started with back-to-back Lehigh errors before Mbeche-Odhiambo slapped down one of her four kills in the period for a two-point advantage. The Mountain Hawks took back an advantage over the next four points, featuring kills from Mary Massias and Ufuoma Omene. Down the stretch, Lehigh used a pair of three-point stretches to take set two 25-19.
Lehigh won the match 3-0 after capping off the third and final set with a 25-16 score. The Mountain Hawks racked up 17 kills to the Leopards' six. Omene tallied five kills in the period, followed by Massias (3) and Olivia Lasee (3). For Lafayette, Jada Aksu and Destiny McKenzie each collected a pair of kills. The Maroon and White notched three blocks, with Mbeche-Odhiambo and Johanna Groger each adding two block assists.
Lafayette remains on the road, traveling to Navy on Friday for a 6 p.m. contest.
