EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette bested Temple, 4-3, using a hat trick from senior
Lena Thedrian on Friday evening at Rappolt Field.
Neither team found the net in the first quarter.
The Leopards took a 2-1 lead in the second period.
Stella Malinowski earned the first goal of the season on Lafayette's home turf, sending a rocket of a reverse chip into the near cage at 15:20. Thedrian added a drag flick goal during a penalty corner four minutes later. Temple's tally was posted by Rozlyn Maciejewski (25:44).
The Owls equalized, 2-2, in the third quarter with an unassisted shot by Mina Uezbe.
Thedrian sent two more shots through in the final 15 minutes to secure her first hat trick of the season (57:25, 58:15).
Olivia Krey (2) and
Katie Gibb were credited with her assists. Temple's Lucia Magro scored the last goal of the game at 59:40 in the 4-3 win for the Leopards.
Lafayette held the advantage in total shots (13-8) while Temple had more penalty corners (7-6).

Addison Kahn made one save in the victory, facing four shots on goal. Her Owl counterpart, Alex Lepore, made six.
The Leopards host Cornell at 6 p.m. on Monday.
