Miscellaneous: The schools played each other twice per season from 1884-1901. They met three times in 1891 and did not meet in 1896, due to a player eligibility dispute between the two schools. They did not play in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, snapping a string of 124 years in which the teams met on the gridiron (then the nation's longest consecutive streak). The series resumed in April of 2021 and then played again in November of the 2021, the first time since 1944 that the teams played twice in the same calendar year .

Lafayette College is home to an incredibly storied and tradition-rich 23-sport intercollegiate athletics program. In addition to boasting four national championships and 64 Patriot League regular season and tournament championships, the Leopards have shaped the game of college football with the invention of the helmet, the invention of the huddle and the game's most-played rivalry.

The Leopards' success extends well beyond the competitive venues, annually ranking among the nation's leaders in student-athlete graduation success rate and individual scholar-athlete honors.

Beginning with the 1960 meeting, the media in attendance at the Lafayette-Lehigh football game have selected the game's Most Valuable Player. There have been eight two-time winners of the MVP Award: Tom Costello, Erik Marsh, Brad Maurer and Jonathan Hurt of Lafayette, and Marty Horn, Kim McQuilken, J.B. Clark and Nick Shafnisky of Lehigh. Just two times have there been co-MVP's (1976 and 2006).
