Recruiting Areas: Southern Pennsylvania and Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia

Greg Frantz begins his third season on College Hill as the special teams coordinator and recruiting coordinator.

In the spring 2021 season, Frantz mentored All-Patriot League punter/kicker Jeffrey Kordenbrock and returner John Gay. Kordenbrock was tabbed as the first-team punter and second-team place kicker. He punted 16 times for an average of 37.9 yards per attempt while landing three punts inside the 20-yard line. He also hit 3-of-4 field goals in 2021, including two in the win over Lehigh on April 10. Gay had five kick returns for 108 yards, averaging 21.6 per attempt.

In his first season in Easton, Frantz saw Kordenbrock and Billy Shaeffer earn All-Patriot League honors on special teams. Kordenbrock sealed that status by making 11-of-14 field goal attempts, including a game winner with 47 seconds left to beat Lehigh. Kordenbrock also managed the first three field-goal performance of his career, connecting on kicks of 32, 31 and 40 to hand Holy Cross its only league loss of the season.

Shaeffer started 11 games at linebacker and shined on the coverage units. He was third on the team with 66 tackles, six tackles for loss, and forced three fumbles and recovered another, while registering a career-high 11 tackles at Georgetown.

Prior to Lafayette, Frantz spent three seasons at SUNY Cortland in a similar capacity. He last coached the Red Dragons’ wide receivers while also working as the special teams coordinator and recruiting coordinator. He previously served as the tight ends coach for two seasons (2015-16). On special teams, Cortland had an All-American each of the last three seasons while also featuring the 2018 Special Teams Player of the Year. At Cortland, he coached with Greg Roskos, who was an assistant at Lafayette during a Patriot League title season in 2004.

Before Cortland, Frantz worked as an offensive quality control/assistant offensive line coach with the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League in the spring and summer of 2015. He also coached for three seasons at Conestoga Valley High School in Lancaster, Pa., from 2012-14.

Frantz graduated from Millersville University in 2012 with a degree in Psychology and a secondary concentration in Athletic Coaching. He spent four seasons playing tight end and fullback at the Division II school. A team captain as a senior, Frantz was a four-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athlete and earned All-PSAC Second-Team honors as a junior. He served as a student assistant coach with the program in the spring of 2012. Frantz earned his master’s degree in Education with a focus in Sport Management from Millersville in 2014.

A native of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, Frantz graduated in 2007 from La Salle College High School where he was a two-sport athlete who played football and baseball.
