Ryan Bartel is in his third season as the tight ends/fullbacks coach at Lafayette.
In the spring 2021 season, Bartel saw Steven Stilianos emerge as one of the top tight ends in the conference as he and Jake Taggart played their way to All-Patriot League First-Team honors. Stilianos had a breakout season, making nine catches for 125 yards. Four of his catches went for touchdowns including two in the season-opening game vs. Colgate and two more in the 156th Lafayette-Lehigh meeting when he garnered game MVP honors. Taggart, was a key contributor for the Leopard offense which averaged 19 points per game. He reeled in a pair of catches in the Colgate and Bucknell games.
In 2019, he coached sophomore Zadok Scott to All-Patriot League First-Team honors. Scott, who appeared in just seven games, finished second on the team in receiving with 24 catches for 321 yards and three scores, working along side veterans Steven Stilianos and Jake Taggart. The tight ends added offensive firepower and consistent blocking to help Lafayette finish second in the Patriot League with 137.7 rushing yards per game in conference play. The Leopard offense also added 5.4 points, 26.2 rushing yards and 51.4 passing yards per game from its 2018 output.
Prior to Lafayette, Bartel spent one season at Princeton where he was the offensive quality control and assistant offensive line coach. In that 2018 campaign, the Tigers claimed the Ivy League title with a 10-0 record, ranking first in the nation in scoring and third total offense.
Prior to Princeton, Bartel spent the 2017 season as an offensive line coach at Susquehanna University. That squad played its way to an 8-3 overall record and a Centennial MAC Bowl title.
Bartel's collegiate coaching career started at Fairleigh Dickinson during the 2015-16 seasons when he served as the running backs coach and worked with the fullbacks, tight ends and long snappers. Bartel also worked with the Trenton Freedom of the PIFL as the football operations manager in 2014-15.
A graduate of The College of New Jersey, Bartel played on the offense line and was the long snapper from 2011-14. He made 25 career starts at tackle while playing in 40 games. Bartel graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from TCNJ in 2015, later earning his master's degree in Sports Administration from FDU in 2017.
