Recruiting Areas: Western Pennsylvania, Northern Virginia and Fredericksburg, Richmond

Tom McEntire begins his second season as the defensive backs coach on John Garrett's staff.

His first season on College Hill was a short one, but one that saw the Leopard defense limit its opponents to 63.3 rushing yards per game on the way to a 2-1 record. DaRon Gilbert achieved All-Patriot League Second-Team status, making 11 stops on the season while recording the team's lone interception.

Prior to Lafayette, McEntire spent one season as the defensive coordinator, special teams coordinator and secondary coach at Baldwin Wallace in Berea, Ohio.

Prior to Baldwin Wallace, McEntire worked as the offensive analyst at Wake Forest in 2017 and as the program’s defensive analyst in 2018 on Dave Clawson’s staff.
He also has significant FCS level coaching experience, spending four seasons (2013-16) as the safeties coach and camp coordinator at Delaware.

Before his stint in Delaware, he spent four seasons at Rutgers, serving as the cornerbacks coach in 2012 and tasked with player development from 2009-2011.
Prior to that, he coached the safeties at Maine in 2008 and spent 2006 and 2007 as the wide receivers and running backs coach at his alma mater, Thiel College.

McEntire graduated from Thiel, in his hometown of Greenville, Pa., in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. He was a team quarterback for one season and a wide receiver for the final three.
