Troy Haefele joined the Lafayette men's lacrosse coaching staff in July of 2024 and will serve as the offensive coordinator under eighth-year head coach Patrick Myers.
Haefele’s first season on College Hill was a memorable one. Lafayette eclipsed the 10-win mark, won five Patriot League regular season games and received votes at the national level, all for the very first time. The 2025 season also marked a first-ever win over conference foe Loyola (Mar. 22, 11-10) and a second-consecutive victory over a nationally-ranked (#15) Boston U. team. The Leopards closed the regular season with a 12-7 win over Lehigh, which was their first over the cross-town rival in 16 years (2009 season). With a 9-5 mark, Lafayette clinched the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament, meaning it would host its first-ever postseason game. The Maroon and White went on to defeat Navy and captured their first playoff win in program history and their first victory over Navy since 2017.
As the team’s offensive coordinator, Haefele guided Lafayette to a 11.31 goals per game average (fifth in the PL) and the team ranked first across the conference in shots percentage (.321). The Leopards scored 181 goals in 2025 and only three teams found the back of the net more. Haefele also coached Riley Sullivan ’25 during his phenomenal 75-point senior campaign. Sullivan was the program’s first All-American Honorable Mention and All-Patriot League First Team selection since 2010. The Economics major finished the season with 30 goals and 45 assists and he paced the nation in assists and points per game for several weeks throughout the season. Freshmen duo Nick Blalock and Joseph Duggan were named to the All-Patriot League Tournament Team for their performances against Navy and Boston U. in the team’s postseason run.

Haefele comes to Lafayette after spending the 2023 and 2024 seasons as an assistant coach at Middlebury College where he helped lead the program to a pair of NCAA Tournament quarterfinal appearances. Haefele coached eight USILA All-Americans during his time in Vermont.Â
Prior to Middlebury, Haefele spent five seasons (2018-22) coaching at his alma mater, Nazareth College. He was an assistant coach for four seasons before being named associate head coach for the 2022 campaign. In his final season at the Rochester, N.Y. school, the program ranked in the top 10 in the nation in goals, assists, points, shooting percentage and man-up percentage while racking up a program-record 307 goals.
Haefele broke into the coaching ranks in 2016-17, spending one season as an assistant coach at Dickinson College.
The native of Greene, Maine graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Nazareth in 2016, later earning a master's degree while an assistant coach at his alma mater. As a player, the four-time all-conference selection and All-American led his program to a pair of Empire 8 championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2013 and 2015.Â
