In 24 seasons under the guidance of Dennis Bohn, the Lafayette men's soccer program has produced nothing but winning teams. Bohn has led the Leopards to winning seasons in 17 of his 24 years on College Hill, three Patriot League championships and three NCAA Tournament berths. His overall record entering his 25th season at Lafayette is 197-156-84. His overall Patriot League record is 87-81-41.
The Leopards were the only Patriot League team with a winning record during the 2024 season (8-6-4) and it was Bohn’s 17
th winning season of his career. Lafayette’s offense ranked first among its conference competitors, boasting a 1.39 goals per game average and it was tied for second in team defense only allowing 1.22 goals per match. The Maroon and White led the conference in All-Patriot League selections (6) and Roy Biegon, Griffin Huff and Andrey McIntyre all received All-Atlantic Region laurels.
The 2023 season saw continued success and growth for Bohn and his program. The Leopards reached their third Patriot League championship game in five years, while holding the most road wins (6) out of all of their Patriot League foes. The team's playoff run eventually came to an end with a 1-0 defeat to Boston U. Bohn and his staff were major contributors in aiding forward Hale Lombard to his best statistical year in maroon and white. The Belleair Bluffs, Fla. native paced the conference with 11 goals, while providing four assists for 26 points. He was selected to the All-Patriot League First Team for the first time in his career and he's now tied for fourth all-time in the programs career scoring records with 26 goals.
Lafayette garnered its third Patriot League Championship under Bohn in 2012 after the Leopards defeated American in the Patriot League Championship Game to earn an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament and a meeting with Virginia in the first round. A late goal by the Cavaliers ended Lafayette's championship year at 9-8-4, and also marked the first goal the Leopards surrendered to an opponent in 553:47 of game action, a streak the Leopards carried through the end of the regular season and into the NCAA Tournament.
The Leopards tied for the Patriot League lead with eight clean sheets on the year, all of which were backed by goalkeeper Nathan McDonald, who earned Patriot League Tournament MVP honors. Alec Golini '14, Brandon Turner '14 and Sean Peckham '13 were recognized as All-Patriot League performers, with Peckham and Turner claiming All-Mid-Atlantic honors as well.
Bohn's teams also achieve academically, as his 2013 squad earned the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for the seventh straight year and posted a 3.17 grade point average for the 2012-13 academic year, third-highest in the Patriot League. Eleven of Bohn's student-athletes landed on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, rounding out his total at 155 players honored in 13 seasons. Additionally, Ryan Dodds '15 earned a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League squad.
Success on the pitch has been a constant during Bohn's tenure on College Hill. The 2003 and 2005 teams both won the Patriot League Championship during a stretch in which the Leopards advanced to the championship game in four of five seasons.
When he arrived in Easton in 2001, Bohn guided Lafayette to winning records in 2001 and 2002 (8-4-5, 8-6-4), and boasted nationally-ranked defenses in both of those seasons. In his third year, the offense came through in key situations, including scoring seven goals over two games in the 2003 Patriot League Tournament to propel Lafayette to its third NCAA Tournament berth.
Bohn became the 18th coach in the history of Lafayette soccer on March 20, 2001 after serving two years as an assistant coach for the Leopards. Prior to coming to Lafayette, Bohn spent 1998 on the sidelines as an assistant at his alma mater, Columbia University.
Bohn graduated from Columbia in 1998 with a degree in Political Science. He was a four-year member of the soccer team and, as senior captain of the Lions, earned All-Ivy League honors as a defender. The Delran, N.J. native also earned a varsity letter in basketball his senior year at Columbia. He was inducted into the Roman Catholic High School (Philadelphia, Pa.) Sports Hall of Fame for his efforts in soccer and basketball. Bohn also played one year of professional soccer for the South Jersey Barons of the United Soccer League.
Bohn resides in Forks Township and has two sons, Cameron and Quinn.
