C.K. Calhoun is in her third season on the Lafayette women’s basketball staff and is currently serving as the interim head coach.
Calhoun, who begins her 11th year as a collegiate basketball coach, oversees the program’s recruiting efforts and is responsible for game scheduling as well as NCAA compliance.
“C.K. Calhoun is in the ideal position as my associate head coach,” head coach Theresa Grentz said. “C.K. has the foresight to think three steps ahead of whatever situation is coming next. She has suggestions, and more importantly, she presents solutions. I am looking forward to working with C.K. as she has the ability to benefit our student-athletes on and off the court.”
Calhoun took on the associate head coaching role after briefly serving as interim head coach following the retirement of Dianne Nolan at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season.
An Alexandria, Virginia native, Calhoun came to College Hill in May 2014 after serving as the head women’s basketball coach for two seasons at Shenandoah University, an NCAA Division III institution in Winchester, Virginia.
As head coach for the Hornets, Calhoun guided the program during its first two seasons as a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. She led the team into the second round of the ODAC Tournament in both 2013 and 2014.
Calhoun coached a pair of All-ODAC honorees during her time at Shenandoah, and helped seven players earn Academic All-ODAC accolades.
Prior to her head coaching experience, Calhoun was an assistant to Hall of Fame Division III coaches Bill Finney at Marymount and Carroll LaHaye at Randolph-Macon, and she additionally served as a graduate assistant at Frostburg State University.
In two-season stops at both Marymount and Randolph-Macon, Calhoun helped her squads to conference championships and accompanying berths into the NCAA Tournament. The 2010 Marymount squad finished 28-2 and advanced into the NCAA Sweet 16.
As a player, Calhoun played for three seasons at Marymount under Coach Finney and experienced Capital Athletic Conference championships in 2004 and 2006. The 2004 team advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Calhoun graduated from Marymount in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design, and she earned her MBA from Frostburg State in 2010.
